An easy to grow densely branched evergreen that requires very little maintenance. Grows to a manageable height of 6 to 8 feet and 4 to 5 feet wide in an attractive, pyramidal, upright form. The lustrous green foliage darkens with age. In spring tiny white flowers are followed by ornamental black berries which persist throughout winter. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Prefers acidic well drained soil but adaptable to most soils. Bird friendly. Tolerates pollution well. Great for Zen, cottage or wildlife garden, massing or as a specimen. Makes a perfect medium sized hedge or use to anchor an existing hedge at both ends.
