These Northern Highbush Blueberries are 3 year transplants 12 to 14 inches. They are multi-stemmed shrubs growing approximately 5 to 6 feet tall with equal spread. Each blue-black berry has hundreds of tiny seeds and when spread by birds and other wildlife will create new plants.Their fruit is popular with birds, foxes, chipmunks and turkeys to name a few. These acid loving plants may be found naturally in marshes, around lakes, ponds and along streams. They do best in full sun. To prolong your berry harvesting season, we suggest planting varieties which have different fruit maturation times so you can enjoy picking and eating Blueberries from late July to early October. The blueberry has a multitude of uses such as making jellies, jams and pies. An excellent nutritional snack, rich in Vitamin C and antioxidents when eaten fresh out of hand. Blueberries are not as perishable as most fresh fruit. Under refrigeration Blueberries will keep for several weeks. They are one of the easiest fruits to freeze. The plants will start bearing fruit the year following planting and last 25 to 30 years. Start a new or add to an existing berry patch with this collection of blueberries. Plant more than one variety for pollination. No shipments to OR, WA.
